Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inaugurated the newly constructed office building of SDO/BDO at Tengnoupal along with laying the foundation stone for a BDO office at Khenjoi village in Chandel district.
The function held at Tengnoupal and attended by chiefs and community leaders of the surrounding villages was graced by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh as chief guest, Health and Family Welfare Minister DK Korungthang as president and Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district Norbert Disinang as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Ibobi said as a policy his Government has been giving top priority to the development of remote and interior areas in the hills.
On the demand for reinstating ADC office from Moreh to Tengnoupal, shifting of ADC office to Moreh was necessary in the interest of development of border trade as well as from the interest of future prospects.
Moreh has become not only an important town of Manipur located near the International border, but also of the whole of India, he added.
On the developmental works to be taken up in Tengnoupal area, Ibobi assured that the primary Health Sub-Centre at Rilram Centre would be upgraded to Primary Health Centre along and the required doctors and other medical staff would be posted.
While appealing to the people of various communities living in the area to maintain peace and harmony and extend cooperation among them, he also assured upgradation of the Junior High School in New Somtal village, electrification of the area, construction of school building in Seibom village and posting of adequate staff at TD Block, Khenjoi.
In his presidential address, DK Korungthang said the vision of Ibobi-led SPF Ministry is to bring about balanced development in both the hill and the valley areas.
Noting that inauguration of SDO/BDO office building and laying the foundation stone for construction of BDO office at Khenjoi is not enough, Korungthang, nonetheless, hoped that inauguration of the SDO/BDO office would mitigate the problems faced by the people while going to Moreh for any faced by the people while going to Moreh for any administrative work to some extent.
While observing that peace is essential for development to take place, he also appealed to the people for co-operation and support to the efforts being made by the people in this regard.
Colourful and energetic cultural dances of Chothe, Tangkhul Maring, Lamkang, Aimol and Leibi were presented to mark the occasion.
