Karnataka crushed Rajasthan 11-0, West Bengal overcame Maharashtra 2-1 as Jharkhand drubbed Uttarakhand 8-0 and Uttar Pradesh cruised to a 2-1 victory over Meghalaya in group matches of the 18th Senior National Women's Football Championship today.
In a Cluster II tie at Khuman lampak Main Stadium, Vanitha, Amoolya, Seneload Lima, Alaka D'souza and Bindu scored a brace each with Hema Rajeswari contributing one in Karnataka's debacle of Rajasthan while at the same venue goals from Puja kumari (36th) and Dulat Ghosh (66th) helped West Bengal to a come from behind win over Maharashtra, after the latter took the lead through Deepika Bharat 19 minutes into the game.
At ESU ground, Wangkhei where Jharkhand routed Uttarakhand in a Cluster I match, Nupur Toppo netted a hattrick, Rekha Barwa contributed two while Rinki Kujur scored one, and Neelam Toppo and Sadhna Kumari rounded off the win with injury time goals.
In UP's victory over Meghalaya in a Cluster IV match, Raj Rupali Singh (18th, 39th) scored both goals for the eventual winners while balulmon Nengnong pulled back one of the North eastern State.
