Kukis for protection of their 'ancestral land'

A day-long leaders' meet/consultation of the Kuki communities organized jointly by Kuki Inpu Manipur (KIM), Kuki Movment for Human Rights (KUMHUR) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO-GHQ) at Kuki Inn, Imphal yesterday has unanimously resolved that the Kuki people should protect their ancestral lands from any sort of threats and forces which may annex/endanger their territorial land.
Attended by more than 250 delegates who included village chiefs, community leaders, elected members and representatives of prominent civil society organizations, the meeting further resolved that Kukis should preserve their culture and customs in their inhabited lands, according to a statement issued by General Secretary of KIM Khaimang Chongloi.
Chongloi informed that the resolutions were adopted in reiteration of the same adopted during the National Consultation of the Kuki communities which was held at Classic Hotel on March, 2010 .
