Lui-Ngai-Ni celebrated in Guwahati

Away from home the Nagas from Manipur residing in Guwahati celebrated Lui-Ngai-Ni, annual seed sowing festival, at Shilpgram, Guwahati on February 16, under the theme, 'Our Culture Our Identity'.
This was the first Lui-Ngai-Ni festival celebration outside the State of Manipur.
The Festival was organized by Tangkhul Welfare Society Guwahati (TWSG) in association with Naga tribes from Manipur and North East Zone Cultural Centre, Guwahati.
The celebration was graced by Dr Mansing Rongbi, Parliamentry Secretary, Finance, Government of Assam as Chief Guest and K Timothy Zimik, Commissioner, Income Tax, Mumbai as the guest of honour.
During the daylong celebration scores of artists from Naga community presented various items in talent show and Naga damsels and men displayed the enchanting costumes of all Naga tribes.
Six Naga tribes viz Anal, Zeliangrong, Aimol, Mao, Poumai and Tangkhul presented folk dance which was complimented again by traditional tug of war.
The festival was attended by various other communities, top executives, heads of corporate's, etc, who were enthralled by folk singer and song writer Guru Rewben Mashangva and Ringo with their captivating songs and stage performance.
In the Fest the renowned Tattoo artist Moo Naga showcased the art of tattoos drawn from the traditional Naga tattoos.
AS Hopingson, Chairman and Executives of Tangkhul Welfare Society, Guwahati mooted the idea of Lui-Ngai-Ni at Guwahati, which was taken forward, to bring all the Nagas together for bringing greater bonding and also to make their children, who are away from home, understand the rich culture and identity of the Nagas.
Over 1500 Nagas who attended the festival all came with traditional attires making the day one of the most colourful celebration.
