Biggest Church of Moyon inaugurated

Imphal, February 17, 2013:
The biggest ever built Church of Moyon tribe, which is one of the smallest tribes in Manipur, was inaugurated at Kapam village in Chandel district today.
The Church, the construction work on which was started in 1996 with funds from general public, was finally inaugurated by Riiantha Ngoruh, wife of Shungchung, the first Pastor of Kapam village in an impressive function today.
The function was also attended by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and MLA DK Korungthang.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural function, R Jindashing, President of Moyon Tribe, informed that the total construction cost of the Church is Rs 1.5 crores.
People of Moyon tribes may be settling in other parts of the State and even in Myanmar, but Kapam village in Chandel district has the highest concentration of Moyons.
The inaugural function of the church was marked by traditional songs and dances and mass prayer.
A souvenir was also released on the occasion.
