No privatization of Power Dept: MEEU

Opposing the state government's proposal of privatizing Electricity Department, Manipur Electricity Employees' Union Manipur (MEEU) has resolved that there should be no corporatization of the department until and unless it able to produce its own electricity.
On the 46th annual general body meeting of the Union held at Palace Compound's Lamyanba Sanglen here today, Yumnam Ranapratap, Working President of MEEU said that privatization of the Power department in the state would benefit none but the private companies themselves.
During the general assembly which was attended by members of MEEU, M Prithiviraj Singh, Parliamentary Secretary, YAS and Tourism; M K Preshow Shimray, MLA and President, Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Manipur Branch; Z Kihonbou Newmai, MLA and Working President INTUC, Manipur Brach and M Jadumani Singh, SE Circle No III (Power) various resolutions including to press the state government to regularize the work charge and muster roll employees of the department and implementation of 6th pay scale to work charge employees, etc were adopted.
On the occasion, MEEU also presented gifts to pensioners of Electricity Department.
