Imphal, July 09 2010:
Nungba Citizens' Council (NCC) expressed reservation on State Government's decision of taking over development of NH-53 from BRO.
Taking of such a decision without consulting the people living along the highway is the clear instance of ignoring the plight and sentiment of people, it added.
Due to the negligence of State PWD, 100-km long Bishnupur to Rengpang Old Cachar Road, popularly known as Tongjei Maril is in a horrible condition.
The council opined that developing of both NH-39 and 53 by BRO would bring better ties among communities.
It added that although NH Act was passed in 1958 and NH Authority was established in 1988, no rule enshrined in the Act has been implemented.
