Combined harvester

For the first time in Manipur, use of combined harvester, which can perform the task of both harvesting and thrashing paddy, has been started from today.
Of the two combined harvesters procured by the Department of Agriculture under the Farm Mechanisation Division, the machines were used on experimental basis for the first time in Manipur at the Takhellambam Loukon located at Hiyangthang Tarahei Mamang today.
It is said that the combined harvester having 22 horse power capacity can harvest and thrash one Pari of paddy in 5 hours.
One combined harvester cost Rs 7.5 lakhs but it would be made available to farmers at a subsidised rate of Rs 40,000 .
