Imphal, August 04 2011:
Naga People's Organisation (NPO), Senapati has decried the alleged 'suspicious nature' of the State Government in dealing with the present volatile situation in Senapati district.
In a statement, NPO asserted that in the light of the present economic blockade and indefinite general strike launched by Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee, the communal approach and attitude of the SPF Government has deeply disturbed the sentiments of the people in Senepati district.
So, any illegal decision on the part of the Government that may infuse tension among the co-existing tribal communities will not be tolerated at all.
The present Government should not sacrifice the peaceful environment of the different tribal communities to gain political mileage.
The communal and provoking statement of the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh which was designed to create antagonism among the Nagas and other tribal communities in Manipur is also condemnable.
With inflow of Inter-State buses, trucks, private vehicles mounting day after day at the local ground of Senapati district headquarters due to the general strike, a situation of humanitarian crisis has been created, the NPO said, while appealing for relaxation of the ongoing indefinite general strike on humanitarian ground.
NPO has also expressed condolence over the death of 3 people in the Kanglatongbi incident on August 2 and shared the pain of those who sustained injuries.
