Imphal, August 04 2011:
While strongly condemning the Sangakpham terror attack, the co-ordination committee of KCP, KYKL Prepak, Prepak (Pro), UPPK, RPF and UNLF have also condoled the demise of five people including two young students and injuries caused to eight people by the bomb attack.
Reacting to Chief Minister O Ibobi's statement that the NSCN-IM had its hand in the terror attack and that the State Government had asked the Centre to withdraw from the cease-fire, the co-ordination committee maintained that such approach of the State Government would not yield any positive result.
Instead of adopting such lame approach, the State Government should take a spirited position to flush out NSCN-IM from the soil of Manipur, asserted Convenor of the Co-ordination Committee I Chaoren.
Pointing out that the cease-fire pact between NSCN-IM and the Government of India is not applicable within the territory of Manipur, it reminded that the people of Manipur undertook several mass movements in addition to sacrificing precious lives in order to prevent the geographical extension of the cease-fire to Manipur.
However, NSCN-IM has been operating in Manipur and they have been executing all kinds of activities using arms and weapons.
Even though New Delhi is aware of these activities of NSCN-IM in Manipur, they have looking the other way in the name of the cease-fire pact.
The silence of the Government of Manipur to such attitude of Government of India only exposes that it is nothing but a puppet of New Delhi, it alleged.
Presently the State is trying to shirk its responsibility by bringing in the issue of cease-fire while it is unable to discharge its bounden duty.
Such approach would never be able to check in advance any activity involving NSCN-IM in future.
Because of all these reasons, the people should censure the lame duck Government and launch mass movements against the sinister ploy of the Government of India to drive wedges amongst the indigenous people of Manipur and ultimately balkanise Manipur, Chaoren asserted.
The Joint Co-ordination Committee was formed some time back as the first stepping stone towards forming a common united front for the armed groups.
