Though the semester system has began in all the colleges from this year, Oriental College has been suffering from the crippling impact of lack of necessary infrastructures.
Addressing a press conference in this regard today, general secretary of Oriental College Students' Union S Ronex Singh said that since the establishment of the college in 1963, proper functioning of the college has always been affected due to lack of necessary infrastructures.
He informed that there are 315 students ( both arts and science stream) in the college and the total number of staff is 80 including 56 teaching staff and 24 non-teaching staff.
Thirteen teaching posts are still lying vacant.
The post of the regular principal of the college too has been lying vacant for a long time and the duty of the principal is currently being looked after by a in-charge.
