In commemoration of the day on which the controversial clause 'without territorial limit' was deleted from Bangkok Declaration, the 2nd Integrity Protection Day was observed under the aegis of ACOAM-Lup, Kangleipak today.
The controversial clause had been included in the Bangkok Declaration signed between the Government of India and Naga rebel group NSCN (IM) on June 14, 2001.Following strong public protest, the clause had been subsequently deleted by the Government of India on July 27 of the same year.
In all 18 persons have lost their lives while several other sustained injuries in police action against the protestors.
The observance function held at MDU Hall here was attended by FREINDS president Sapamcha Jadumani, IPSA advisor H Ibotombi Khuman, Kuki Inpi Manipur vice president Haokhothang Baite, HERICOUN general secretary Longjam Ratan, NIPCO vice president Sunil Karam, CLK advisor A Langdon Leima, ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak advisors H Kula Singh and Indrakumar Ningombam as presidium members.
Delivering the key note address, ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak general secretary Indrajit Tourangbam observed that India Government had to bite the dust because of the collective strength of the people.
So, the Integrity Protection Day is being observed to strength this unity of the people all the more.
In his address, Sunil Karam also reminded that gathering that it was because of the united stand of the people that the Government of India and NSCN (IM) have been forced to delete the controversial clause from their Bangkok Declaration and Assam Rifles have been removed from Kangla.
So, as along as the people stand together, no force in the world would be able to disintegrate Manipur.
Indrakumar Ningombam proposed that Integrity Protection Day should be observed throughout the State.
He also announced that ACOAM-Lup would start launching campaign against deprivation of essential commodities to the people.
All the shops in Khwairamband Bazar should put up their respective names and price list, he added.
