Imphal, November 19:
Grievance Committee on Census 2001 and Karong Railway Head (GCCKR), Senapati district has called a 48-hour total bandh with effect from midnight of November 21.The total bandh is being called to protest the State Cabinets decision to reject the population figure of Census 2001 in respect of three Mao-Maram, Paomata and Purul subdivisions of Senapati district and cancellation of the Railway head from Karong for which the then Railway Minister Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone on November 17, 1998.The Committee further warned of taking up more stringent actions if the State Govt fails to concede to its demands even after the total bandh.
