Earthquake hits Manipur and North East Region

Imphal, July 29, 2012::
A moderate magnitude earthquake of 6 ML on the Richter scale hit the entire State and adjoining North Eastern region at 7.51 am today.
The epicentre of the earthquake has been located at Ponnyadaung Hill Range in Myanmar, about 210 km away from Imphal.
The hill range falls under Chin State (Magwe Division) of the neighbouring country.
It is situated about 30 kms south of Kalewa town on the western side of Chindwin River.
The depth of the earthquake is estimated to be about 70 km, said a press release issued by Seismological Observatory of Manipur University.
