Education Minister M Okendro fetes meritorious Heirok students
'Govt to pay attention to affairs of aided schools'

Reiterating that the state government would be taking up necessary steps to promote Education Tourism in the state, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has assured that the problems being faced by the aided schools would be looked into for all round development in education sector.
The Education Minister was speaking as Chief Guest of the 6th Kh Itocha Itocha Memorial Award Distribution function organized by Social Educational and Sports Development Organisation at Heirok Bazaar today.
Minister Okendro said that the government is trying its level best to improve the Education system in the state.
"Whether it's a private or a government school, we need to develop them.
So, the government is all set to take up steps to look into the matters of aided schools in the state although no specific decision has been taken as of now", the Minister
informed.

Stressing on the need to promote Education Tourism in the state, Minister Okendro maintained that if the Education system in the state is developed, students from outside the state would rush in to get admission in various schools and colleges of the state.
All of us need to come together and do the needful in this regard.
He went on to point out that today Manipur is producing a number of meritorious students who even topped all India level exams.
In Heirok A/C, there are also a number of meritorious students who have done exceptionally well in various exams and the number is increasing.
On distribution of PDS items to the people, Minister Okendro, who is also in charge of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, assured that every possible measure would be taken up by the government to ensure availability of PDS items to the people at the beginning of every month.
Dr Kh Palin, CMD, Shija Hospital, who was also present on the occasion as Functional President, said that the Kh Itocha Itocha Memorial Award Distribution function is being organized to give encouragement to students.
He also pointed out that with the coming of Trans Asian Highway, which is most likely to pass through Heirok, people of the area need to understand its significance and take up necessary steps to reap the benefit from it.
The function was also attended by Rajmani, Pradhan of Heirok Gram Panchayat; Social Worker T Nungshi; and Chairperson of Heirok Gram Panchayat, E Shanta as Guests of Honour.
Students of Heirok A/C who have secured high marks in the recently held Matric and Clas XII exam and those who cleared MBBS exam were felicitated on the occasion.
On the other hand, the Councilor Meritorious Award 2012 presentation to meritorious students of Wangkhei ward number 19 held today.
