In order to streamline distribution of old age pension benefit to the deserved section and in a judicious manner, Sekmai assembly constituency MLA Kh Devendro personally supervised handing over of old-age pension form at two different places today.
Old age pension forms were handed over to elderly citizens above 60 years of age at Kanto Khullen Awang Leikai and Sekmai Awang Leikai.
Under the Old Age Pension scheme being implemented by the State's Social Welfare Department six elderly citizens from each of the 31 polling stations under Sekmai AC have been shortlisted receive monthly entitlement of Rs 200 each, said the MLA while interacting with newspersons.
Informing that distribution of pension forms had commenced from July 23, Devendro exuded confidence that handing over of the forms afresh and at public events would be able to check malpractices.
Claiming that much younger individuals were found to have been enlisted for old-age pension benefits, the MLA affirmed that priority would on benefiting citizens who are in the age-group of 70-80 and above.
In case a particular polling station do not have elderly citizens of the said age group, then those above 60 years would be selected, he added.
