Various transporters' and drivers' organisations have warned to launch indefinite bandh on National Highways if their demands for setting up of highway protection force, and providing suitable parking places for inter-state buses in Imphal, Jiribam, Khatkhati, Guwahati and Silchar, were not fulfilled at the earliest time.
Speaking to reporters on behalf of the All Manipur Inter-state Bus Association (AMISBA), Manipur Drivers' Welfare Association (MDWA), Imphal-Silchar Road Transporters' Welfare Society (ISRTWS), and All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union (AMPTDU), the president of AMPTDU Y Bhupenchandra said that the transporters' and drivers' unions have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of the state on March 16 last.
