Imphal, July 25 2009:
The banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Manipur has vehemently condemned the incident of killing of a young pregnant woman and injuring five other innocent civilians at Khwairamband market on July 23 .
Ksh Yoiheiba, Senior Publicity Officer, Department of Publicity, UNLF today stated in a press release that the incident occurred during indiscriminate firing by police commandos in the crowded market while trying to apprehend a person.
The incident, in which a young pregnant woman, Thokchom Ongbi Rabina was killed and five other persons including two women were injured, was the ultimate example of challenge to the people by the puppet government of Manipur.
The UNLF condemns the incident and shares the grief of the family of the deceased and also the pains of those injured, Yoiheiba stated.
He further stated that the UNLF endorses the statement given by the RPF in regard to the incident.
The party also supports the bold stand taken by the anguished people.
The press release stated that it will be really hard to count on finger tips the number of innocent civilians killed by some police commandos who have become beasts under the support of the puppet government in the name of search for insurgents and attempt to arrest them.
Besides, the IOF have also killed a number of civilians.
The responsibility of all these killings must be borne by Ibobi, Yoiheiba contended and asked, would not the people have to punish Ibobi as the leader of the killers.
Yoiheiba pointed out that it is the MLAs' attitude of not knowing self that they, including some Opposition MLAs, had supported Ibobi when he said "have to kill" by misreporting the incident in order to put the blame on the revolutionary organisations for the incident.
"We know, people also know that there are many among the MLAs and Ministers who have criminal background," the Senior Publicity Officer, Yoiheiba observed.
"What they all criticised the insurgents about being 'without ideology' and 'all for money only,' it is certainly not UNLF, which is known to the people.
If they say that it is all for money, what is going to be said about Ibobi and his clique of Ministers who are looting the public money ? Won't they have to be killed too ?" UNLF asked.
Therefore, it is these few gangs of commandos set up by Ibobi who are perpetrating crimes of extortion and terrorism in Manipur the most, the press release charged.
Accusing the Chief Minister of leading in corruption as well, the UNLF observed that those people who cannot afford to pay 15% have no place in the
society.
UNLF is aware that there are some among the commandos who love their motherland and nation.
This is human nature.
There are some who betray and sell out their motherland and some who love their motherland among the communities, Yoiheiba stated.
If the line of tolerance among the people is crossed, let alone the commandos, even the IOF will be killed by the people striking them with sticks and stones, Yoiheiba warned adding that Ibobi and his commandos should not forget this.
In the meanwhile, the UNLF also appealed to fellow revolutionaries not to do anything that will disrepute the liberation movement and fight together when such things happen, according to the press release.
