Imphal, October 01:
A number of card holders in Imphal East especially from Khongma Zone II and Zone III under Thongju AC have complained that not only are they not receiving items like rice, sugar and kerosene under the Public Distribution System but have to pay a higher amount.
Under the AAY a card holder is entitled to receive 35 Kgs of rice in one month while under the BPL, a card holder is entitled to 30 Kgs per month, said a card holder.
However the card holders receive at most of the time only 10 Kgs per month, they contended.
The rate fixed by the Government is Rs 5 per Kg for AAY rice and Rs 8 for BPL rice.
Card holders from Khongman zone II and III said that they have to shell out Rs 6 per Kg for AAY rice and Rs 9 for BPL rice.
The card holders said that they have not received rice for 2/3 months.
