Memai Council (Mao Council) and Zeliangrong Union, Senapati Zone said that the two bodies will not compromise with the Government Delimitation notification appended on September 24 by the Member Secretary of District Council Delimitation Committee (DCDC) of under any circumstance.
The bodies also warned to launch general strike and indefinite economic blockade along NH-39 if the said notification is not revoked immediately.
According to a press release jointly issued by the two bodies, the notification of DCDC regarding the boundaries of DCC in nothing but all the mistakes, wrongly entered and printed that creates confusion to the people which may lead disputes between villages and tribes.
The two bodies alleged the DCDC for favouring the Maram tribe which has 14000 voters by giving away four constituencies.
The bodies also expressed reservations over not creating any new constituency for Maram tribe which has 33, 302 voters in addition to the existing six constituencies.
The bodies also demanded to maintain status quo in regards to Oklong DCC constituency.
