Locals of Takyel Khongbal under the banner of Takyel Khongbal Development Action Committee are set to picket Government offices and block the roads at Takyelpat area if the local MLA and concerned authority fail to look into the deteriorating roads and suspension bridges by June 30 .
Convenor of the Committee, Th Ashokumar in a press conference conducted today at Takyel Khongbal Paona Memorial Club and Library said that people of the area are facing lots of inconvenience as the two and half kms long road from Naoremthong to Makoi Nungol Chingjil has not been repaired since past 20 years.
Saying that the locals have repeatedly pleaded the local MLA to repair the said road and even submitted a memorandum, Ashokumar asserted that nothing has been started yet in this regard even though the local MLA had assured the locals to start repairing works soon on many occasions.
Informing that there are two suspension bridges and two wooden bridges built over the Nambul river that connect the locality with Uripok Kangchup road in this stretch, Ashokumar asserted that these bridges are in pathetic condition as the Government has not repaired it for the past ten years.
He further added that the locals have also pleaded the local MLA and the concerned authority to repair the bridges on many occasions.
Ashokumar further cautioned the concerned authority and local MLA that the locals would picket the Government offices and block the roads around Takyelpat area if any positive action is not taken up by June 30 .
