Imphal, June 29 2009:
The Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) today expressed support to the proposal of the four political parties, CPI, CPM, RSP, AIFB urging the state Chief Minister O Ibobi to call a joint meeting of political parties functioning in the state and discuss the current trend of killings by the security forces.
Mention may be made that four political parties Communists Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM), All India Forward Block (AIFB) and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) had on June 26 insisted the state chief minister, O Ibobi to call a meeting of all political parties functioning in the state and discuss on the continuing spree of killing people and drought like situation due to scanty rainfall.
Though it was a bid late, the proposal of the four political parties is a laudable one and chief minister knowing the sentiment of the people should called the meeting and HERICOUN supports four parties' idea translate into action what the people wanted with regard to the matter, a statement of the HERICOUN signed by its publicity secretary L Sanajaoba stated.
In the state, to stop the killing spree and relief the people from the clutch of woes suffering by them, many JAC and civil organizations have raised up to the government but there is no improvement to any of the problems, it stated.
