Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 61st Republic Day celebrations tomorrow.
In a message, the Governor stated that during the past 60 years of the Republic, India has made many remarkable achievements in various fields.
"The world today wonders at our achievements in socio economic development and various other sectors.
But there are still many things we must to meet our needs and fulfill our aspirations" .
"It is a fact that the speed of development can be accelerated only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Peace and development are the two sides of the same coin.
Manipur has also made progress in various fields of development along with other states of the country.
However, much more has still to be done so that Manipur can find its place in the vanguard of the most developed states of India," the Governor said.

He further stated that while celebrating the Republic Day, people should remember that the Day had given the people a Constitution to shape the people's destiny.
"On this occasion, we should resolve to contribute our best in our respective capacity to maintain peace and harmony, which are crucial for economic development and prosperity of the people of Manipur," Governor Gurbachan stated in his message.
Meanwhile, GOC 3 Corps, Lt Gen NK Singh and GOC 57 Mtn Divn, Maj Gen DS Hooda have conveyed greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the Republic Day tomorrow.
"May the state usher in a new era of peace and prosperity, and may God bless all the citizens of Manipur," Maj Gen DS Hooda stated in the message.
On the other hand, Maj gen CA Krishna, IGAR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles extended a very warm greetings and sincere goodwill to all the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day, according to a press release issued by the PRO IGAR (South).
The IGAR (South) also conveyed his earnest message of peace, harmony, unity and understanding on this joyous occasion.
"May all the goodwill and harmony bring together all of us irrespective of caste, creed and faith", said the message in conclusion.
Lt Gen KS Yadava, AVSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles has also extended the Republic Day Greetings from Shillong with prayers to Almighty for peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Manipur, said the release.
