RK Meme gets Meritorious Service Medal

Imphal, January 25 2010:
Three personalities of Manipur from different fields have been included among the 81 who will be conferred with the prestigious Padma Shree Award on the eve of Republic Day of India.
A police officer of the state is also included among the list of police and paramilitary forces who eill be conferred Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The three personalities included in the list of 81 Padma Shree Awardees are Haobam Ngangbi (Rash Leela), RK Achoubisana (Martial Arts) and Ayekpam Tomba (social worker).
Haobam Ongbi Ngangbi, a resident of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai is the daughter of noted Sangkritan Guru Akoijam Bokul.
Earlier, she has been honoured wih the Sangeet Natak Akademy Award in 1994 and the State Kala Akademy Award in 1980.The Manipur Sahitya Parishad also honoured her with Natya Bushan in 1985 .
RK Achoubisana of Loklaobung, Imphal was born on December 5, 1938 .
He learned Manipuri Martial Arts from different institutes from 1953 to 1960.Further he learnt Manipuri dances under the guidance of noted Guru Amubi Natya Bidyalaya, Guru Hoabam and JN Manipur Dance Akademy.
Social worker Ayekpam Tomba was born in April 30, 1930 at Sagolband Tera Keithel Loukrakpam Leikai.
He was honoured by Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, Government of India in 1991.He has been working for the welfare for children.
On the other hands, SP of State Vigilance Department, RK Meme, MPS has been included among the personnel to be awarded Police Medal.
No other police officer from the state is among the 105 list of police and central paramilitary personnel who will be conferred President Police Medal for Gallantry and Police Medal for Gallantry.
Meme of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai is an MPS officer 1988 batch.
She has been conferred the award in recognition of her service as a police officer.
