A cleanliness drive was conducted by 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) on January 24.The volunteers cleaned the drains, swept the roads and bylanes of the town, the premises of the various Government offices and cleared the garbage of this historically important border town, said a press note form the PRO IGAR (S) .
Speaking on the occasion, Col Ravroop Singh, CO 31 Assam Rifles appreciated the effort put in by all volunteers involved in the drive and said that the onus of keeping the township neat and clean is on every individual of Moreh.
He also added that the aim of such joint cleanliness drive was also to project the importance of cooperation amongst the locals and such small exercises if carried out at regular intervals can bring about big changes in Moreh.
The cleaning drive also sent a strong message that the multi ethnic Moreh town must be saved from all kinds of pollution, continued the release.
The programme was conducted under the theme "Let us take pledge to make and keep our moreh neat & clean and give a reason to our coming generation to smile" .
The social service covered Moreh Bazar,Turel Wangma, Heinoumakhong, Premnagar, Moreh Khunou, Muslim Basti, Nepali Basti, Morning Market and from NH-39 Forest gate to Gate No.2 .
Around 1000 volunteers from 5 Meetei Leikais, Tamil Sangam & Muslim Volunteers, Emas participated in today's drive.
At the end of the Social Service, the 31 AR thank the community leaders and the participating volunteers and offered them light refreshment at Moreh Police Station.
