Ahead of the proposed visit of AICC president and UPA Chair-person Sonia Gandhi to Imphal in November to inaugurate the market sheds of Khwairamband Bazar, Tribal Market complex, Khuga Dam and Minority Girls' hostel, Permanent member of Congress Working Committee (CWC) and incharge of Manipur, Luizinho Falerio has inspected the progress of the construction works.
Falerio arrived here on a two-day visit yesterday morning.
After his arrival at Imphal, Falerio went to Churachandpur to take stock of the progress in the construction of Khuga Dam.
He also inspected the progress of the construction work on the three market sheds of Khwairamband Bazar, the Annexe building and the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi being constructed inside the complex of Congress Bhavan as well as the Minority Girls' Hostel being constructed in Imphal East district.
During his inspection tour, Falerio was accompanied by MPCC president Gaikhangam and other party officials.
Falerio left Imphal today.
While at Imphal, Falerio interacted with the newly elected members of PCC Executive Committee and discussed issues related to strengthening the position of the party.
Later on, he also chaired a meeting of the State Co-ordinating Committee of the party and the Government at the conference hall of the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
From the side of the Congress party, MPCC president Gaikhangam, vice president S Achouba and T Mangibabu attended the meeting while Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Minister of Law and Legislative Affairs Th Debendra and Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing from the side of the State Government.
The meeting discussed issues related to extension of proper co-ordination between the party and the Government in taking up developmental works.
