The fourth death anniversary of renowned singer Nongmaithem Pahari was observed at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Lampak.
Eminent Theatre personality and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Elangbam Joychandra and Nongmaithem Pahari Memorial Trust President B Jayantakumar were the chief guest and functional president of the observance.
Speaking at the occasion, Elangbam Joychandra said that the songs of eminent singers like Pahari make people to listen again and again because of their melodious nature.
However, the present generation lacks such appeal, he opined and added that the songs of current age neither have proper soor nor maintain a singing style.
B Jayantakumar while speaking in the function said that the trust is planning to organise music competition and institute lifetime achievement award in connection with the observance from next year.
The gathering paid floral tribute to the late singer and his famous patriotic number, Khomlang laman singamloi ema, was presented by a musical group as opening song.
