KYKL has denied having any connection with Md Sahir Ahmed of Keikhu Maning Leikai who was shot dead by Manipur Police Commandos on May 6 at Dharmashalla.
In a statement, deputy commander, central division of the proscribed outfit said KYKL has investigated the matter and come to know that the deceased was a simple and poor man who was earning his livelihood by working in a second hand shop at Nagamapal.
Sahir was picked up by the Commandos from Kabo Leikai (now Deulahland) area while he was coming his work place.
He was subjected to torture by the Commandos and it was witnessed by many people, it claimed.
However, the next day, the police claimed through the newspapers that he was a KYKL activist and was killed during a shoot out, the statement said, decrying the attitude of the police personnel.
This attitude of the State police personnel is despicable, the KYKL statement said, asking all the people not to remain quiet against such false propaganda.
Moreover, the statement also clarified that the four persons, namely Ningshen Mercy of Itham Tangkhul, Chongtham Ratan of Nongren Maning Leikai, Senjam Bikram of Nongren Mamang Leikai and Senjam Robindro of Nongren Mamang Leikai, whom police claimed to have been arrested from the house of one Haokhosei at Deulahland on May 6 are not members of KYKL contrary to the claim made by the police.
