The week-long training programme for capacity building of architects in earthquake risk management concluded at State Guest House here today.
Registered practising architects from Government Departments and private organisations including three lady architects attended the training programme.
Resource persons from State PWD, MIT, Town Planning, retired engineers, architects and scientists from Manipur University presented various topics on various aspects of earthquake, earthquake mitigation measures from conceptual planning stage upto completion of construction stage, retrofitting of weal structures, etc.
Retired Architect PWD, Manipur L Mangi Singh presented details on traditional construction of buildings of various tribes which will be safe in earthquake.
Resource persons from Town Planning presented techno-legal and techno-financial mitigation measures with special reference to the proposed revision of Imphal Municipal Building Bye-Law.
Interactions between the trainees and the resource persons was also felicitated.
The valedictory function of the training programme was attended by Commissioner (Relief and Disaster Management) Dr Suhel Akhtar and Senior Architect (Retired), PWD L Mangi Singh as chief guest and president respectively.
The training programme was organised by the State Hazard Safety Cell, PWD Manipur with Th Joykumar Singh, member of State Hazard Safety Cell, Manipur as principal course co-ordinator and N Krishna Kumar Sharma, Sr Architect, PWD as course co-ordinator.
