State security force personnel apprehended five activists of the armed Kuki Revoluntary Army (KRA) from different locations in the past 24 hours with three of them reported to be involved in setting ablaze a commercial vehicle and slaying of a private security personnel in the early part of the current month.
Three KRA activists were arrested by personnel of Imphal East district police while on frisking and checking duty at Brahmapur Nahabam Leikai yesterday evening, informed Imphal East district Superintendent of Police L Kailun in a statement issued today.
the arrested persons have been identified as Mayengbam Bomcha alias Mangal (29) s/o M Iboyai Singh of Lamjao, Brahmacharimayum Priyokumar Sharma alias Raju (35) s/o B Nodiya Sharma of Nahabam Bamon Leikai and Wahengbam Korou alias Leu alias Challamba alias Ejarel (30) s/o W Irabot of Patsoi Pt-I, but presently a resident of Kangpokpi.
A .38 pistol with one magazine and two live rounds could be recovered from korou's possession, said the SP's release while informing of the trio disclosing that they were actively involved in collection of fund from Imphal area especially among the Meitei community.
Their other disruptive activities included burning of a Tata Sumo (MN044/0346) on July 8 at Narankonjil and killing of a security guard of Manipur Diesel on July 14 at Mantripukhri.
On the other hand, a police team of Sekmai police station led by its Officer in-charge nabbed two 'active members' of the same group from Sekmai Keithel area this morning.
The two apprehended in the course of a frisking and checking duty by the Sekmai personnel have been identified as Sapam Ibomcha alias Hemanta (40) s/o S Munal of Ningomthongjao under Singjamei police station and Senjam Kanta (32) s/ S Tomba of Keibi Mayai Leikai, added a statement issued by Imphal West district SP Clay Khongsai.
