A monthly journal titled The Manipur Journal has been launched today.
A function to mark launching of the journal was held at Manipur Press Club here today with DIPR Director T Sitlhou as chief guest, president in-charge of the Editors Forum Manipur P Ibochouba as functional president and former news Editor of AIR Imphal Seram Mangi and College of Agriculture, CAU Dean Dr N Iboton as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, consulting editor of the monthly journal Akham Langol said that the journal is aimed at bringing a comprehensive understanding of the cultures, languages and identities of different nations of the world.
Observing that larger communities of India and the world work to promote and spread their culture and tradition to other parts of the world, Langol lamented that Manipuris are still unable to showcase their culture, tradition and identity to other nations.
As such, the Manipur Journal will focus on exposing the culture and tradition of Manipur, he said while adding that the journal will also feature articles and stories on culture, traditions and national identities of different nations of the world.
Mohen Naorem is the editor of the Journal.
Consulting editors include Yuichi Imoue for Japan.
Stephen Christopher and Adrienna Rose Block for Korea, Rajen Barua and Shanti for the USA.
Seram Mangi described the journal as the first of its kind in Manipur.
Dr N Iboton said that the journal will help in documentation of the culture and tradition of Manipur.
Columnist Haobam Sanajaoba and Sagolsem Tarun also spoke at the function.
