Fuel conservation fortnight

Aimed at creating awareness on the importance of preserving natural resources and its use in a sustainable manner, Indian Oil Corporation Limited kicked started its annual Oil and Natural Gas Conservation Fortnight with a formal programme held at Classic Hotel today.
The inaugural programme of the campaign to be spread over a period of 17 days, was attended by Imphal West district Deputy Commissioner H Imocha as the chief guest.
Officials of Petroleum Conservation Research Association namely M Yaiskul and S Kulachandra along with its Coordinator KI Singh were also present at the occasion.
In his address as the chief guest, IAS H Imocha called upon all the citizens for economical use of petrol and cooking gas as these natural resources would not last forever.
Reminding that the campaign for saving fuel also means saving money as well as reduce pollution, Imocha expressed remorse that huge quantity of petrol is being wasted by youngsters through random indulgence in joyride.
Speaking at the occasion, Coordinator KI Singh informed that under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited has been observing Conservation Fortnight since 1981 to drive home the point to the consumers on the need for economical use of transport fuel and cooking gas.
Noting that number of vehicles in the State had been on the rise on a rapid scale, he expressed hope that the fortnight campaign would be able to educated the upcoming generation on the need to preserve natural resources.
As a part of the observance which was also participated by a large number of students, pledge was taken for transforming the campaign theme of 'save fuel, save money' into reality.
