National Integration tour

Imphal, January 15, 2011:
The 3rd MAHAR Regiment under the aegis of Red Shield Division has organised a National Integration Tour for the children from insurgency affected region of the Dima Hasao district of Assam from January 3 to 15. Brigadier Ashim Kohli, Commander Haflong Brigade flagged off the tour on January 2 for Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune.
A total of 20 students and two teachers from different schools of Dima Hasao district participated in the tour.
The tour was conducted under Indian Army sponsored Operation Sadbhavana.
During the visit children interacted with Eastern Army Commander at Kolkata and spoke about their areas and tribal values.
The Commander in turn presented gifts to the children as a token of encouragement.
Participants got a unique opportunity to visit National Defence Academy at Pune.
They interacted with the students of Hyderabad Public School, visited Hi-Tech city in Hyderabad and the Planetorium at Kolkata.
On the culmination of the tour, an interaction programme with children was organised by civil administration at Narangi.
Commissioner and Secretary (Home and Political), Government of Assam represented civil administration and spoke to children about the importance of education, peace and development.
Children shared their experiences and thanked army for organising such an event.
The National Integration motivational tour was aimed to bring awareness amongst the young generation of Dima Hasao about the development and progress achieved by the nation in order to ignite their minds to set higher goals in life.
It will keep them motivated to be in the mainstream for the development and prosperity of the state.
