As part of the ongoing agitation, the All Manipur District Council Teachers' Association, which is demanding payment of the pending six months' salaries to the teachers working under six District Councils among others, a protest demonstration was staged at Keishampat Junction here and a memorandum was later submitted to the Governor.

Over the same demand, the aggrieved teachers had launched a pen down strike from August 24 to 31 and from September 2 protest demonstrations are being staged at different places.
Apart from the demand to release the pending salaries of the teachers, the other demands of the Association include clearance of 14 percent dearness allowance, ensuring 10 percent quota for teachers of District Council in BEd education and implementation of NIC/MGEL in all the six District Councils.
These demands have also been highlighted in the memorandum submitted to the Governor.
