Governor Gurbachan Jagat has conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur, specially to the teacher community, on Teachers' Day, which is being celebrated all over the country tomorrow to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Dr S Radhakrishnan, former President of India, a great scholar, philosopher, education and above all an outstanding teacher.
In his message, the Governor said that teachers play a pivotal role in moulding the character of students who will ultimately shape the destiny of the Nation and the character is that on which the Nation is built.
Keeping this in view, we must try our best to educate and train the young students of our country and inculcate the right values in them so as to shoulder their responsibilities to be reposed in them by society in due course, the Governor said.
He further observed that in celebrating Teachers' Day, the teacher community should resolve that they would strive to sensitize the young minds to the value systems.
They should also make earnest and sustained efforts to nurture their respective institutions into a sacred temple of excellence of learning and also make the task of Nation building as a central agenda of educational activities.
