The foundation stone for construction of a community hall at Keishamthong Kabui village here was laid today.
The community hall is to be constructed with funding from Manipur Development Society.
The estimated cost of the project is said to be around Rs 40 lakhs.
Organised by the Beneficiary Committee of Keishamthong Kabui village, the foundation stone laying function was attended by MLA of Sagolband Assembly Constituency and Chairman of PDA Dr Kh Loken as chief guest.
Khullakpa of the village Houreilung Kamei presided over of the function which was also attended Khunba of the village Kairanga Golmei, Baanza of the village Athoimei Gangmei and Councillors of Imphal Municipal Council K Tiken and Ashung Gangmei as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Loken said that the support of the people is essential in any developmental works taken up by the Government.
This can not only improve the relationship between the two but also help in bringing about peace and development in the State.
The MLA further informed that a sum of Rs 18,41,620 has already been sanctioned for the first phase of the construction work.
Assuring necessary fund from his local area development fund in case the cost of construction materials increase beyond the estimated fund during the course of the construction, the MLA said that the construction of the community hall is being targeted to be completed and handed over to the people within 18 months.
