Imphal, Jun 04:
In connection with the allegations of plundering the house of one Thangkhopao Haokip by a combined force of Thoubal police commandos and 3rd IRB personnel and as published in the media, SP of Thoubal S Ibocha produced a memo receipt before media persons signed by Thangkhopao himself declaring that no articles or valuables were lost during the search operation.
The operation was launched following definite information that chief of Finance of UKLF Minthang Haokip (son of Thangkhopao of Kotlenphai near Pallel Bazar) and three other UGs were taking shelter in the house.
During the operation, a video camera (Sony handycam) and three video cassettes were recovered from the vicinity of the house, informed Ibocha.
The cassettes which were screened before the media persons contained pictures of UG cadres having a meal and undergoing training with weapons.
Yesterday, the All Tribal Women's Organisation, Chandel, Kuki Women's Human Rights, Chandel and Kuki Students' Organisation, Molnoi Block alleged that several articles and valuables have been looted by 3rd IRB personnel and Thoubal District commandos in the name of the search operation.
Asserting that the whole allegations were baseless and deliberately schemed to defame commando personnel and to cover up their illegal activities, SP Ibocha disclosed that the camera and the cassettes were earlier seized as unclaimed articles.
However following the allegations of lost articles during the said operation, an FIR would be registered against the clandestine contents of the cassettes, said the SP.
Clarifying that Thangkhopao was also present during the operation, he conveyed that the SP Moreh has been intimated of the contents of the video camera.
A statement issued by the Commandant of 3rd IRB also refuted the charges as concocted and a wilful attempt to paint the officers and personnel of 3rd IRB in a bad light in the eyes of public.
Meanwhile, a tax collector of NSCN (IM) identified as Thingbaijam Biren (48) of Kongba Kshetri Leikai but currently staying at Pallel was apprehended by Thoubal police commandos on June 2.
