Government of India and Naga rebel group NSCN (I-M) will enter into another round of peace parleys to discuss 'substantive issues' including extension of the ceasefire agreement at Amsterdam from June 20 to 21.In a telephonic conversation, deputy kilonser (publicity) of the outfit K Chawang told The Sangai Express that as agreed in the last meeting at Amsterdam to meet frequently towards thrashing out a solution to the vexed Naga issue, the next round of peace parleys is scheduled to be held at Amsterdam from June 20 to 21.As agreed in the last meeting at Amsterdam in May, both the parties are likely to meet as frequently as two to three times in a month till a decision is taken on the extension of the ceasefire, he added.
Apart from discussing the substantive issues already raised from the side of NSCN (I-M), no other issue would be discussed during the two-day long meeting, Chawang said.
However, he hastened to add that discussion on extension of the ceasefire agreement due to expire on July 31 might come up during the meeting.
As agreed in the last meeting at Amsterdam in May, both the parties are likely to meet as frequently as two to three times in a month till a decision is taken on the extension of the ceasefire, he added.
The delegation of the NSCN (I-M) would be led by its chairman Isak Swu and general secretary Th Muivah while V Atem and Raising would be among the delegates.
From the side of the Government of India the delegation might by led by Minister of State Oscar Fernandes.
Body clarifies : Reacting to the news item which appeared in the June 4 issue of this paper under the caption "Loot allegation levelled on security men", the All Tribal Womens'' Organisation has clarified that the house of Thangkhopao Haokip of Kotlenphai was ransacked by Thoubal police commandos and not as reported.
The Organisation said that the items looted by the Thoubal police commandos did not include a wireless handset and added that the commando team was led by Jamandar A Nando.
Jamandar Anju Singh was not involved.
