A press conference was held at The Khunai Hotel by the Moreh Imphal Jeep and Tata Taxi Service Association Old and New and Moreh Social workers Youth Club, Prem Nagar on the issue of parking space.
RK Sheilesh and Meghachandra Sharma, presidents of the Moreh Imphal Jeep and Tata Taxi Service Association Old and New stating that the two associations welcomed the move mark the road between Moreh Police Station to Naphalong as No Parking Zone, has appealed to the concerned authorities to allow for parking at the present parking space or in the area where the new parking space is being constructed.
Vice President L Tomba stated that the Association with the consent of the government of Manipur has been parking the vehicles.
It is unfortunate that those who park their vehicle at the roadside without the consent of the government by instigating unrest is trying to cause hindrance to this association which has been going strictly by the rule.
Since the order of the government is issued in the interest of the people of Moreh, the Vice-president stated it is welcomed but he appealed to the concerned authority of the Government of Manipur and to the community leaders of Moreh to assign an parking space to the Assn M Thoiba meetei, President, Social Workers Youth Club, SWYC termed it as unfortunate that the SWYC was not informed about a meeting to shift the parking area which has been in use for the last 10 years with the permission of the government.
The government's order of NO Parking Zone has not cancelled the old permits.
The order might have been issued considering the congestion on this stretch of the road but since those with old permits have been parking their vehicles at the side of the road, said the Thoibi, it was thought it was alright.
Stating that a lot of money has been spent on improving the old parking area, the SWYC president appealed to the government and community leaders of Moreh to allow the parking of Tata Sumos at the new parking space.
