A meeting after a silent protest rally of employees of the Manipur government today resolved to intensify the strike launched by them under the banner of the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO).
The meeting held at THAU Ground at Thangmeiband resolved to launch total closure of government offices including district and block level offices in all the districts with effect from tomorrow (February 5) which would be followed by jail bharo stir if government still remains silent to their demand for implementation of the revised sixth pay bands of the Central government in the state in toto.

The silent rally of the employees which started from Imphal West DC office complex marched on the streets upto Thangmeiband where pensioners waited for their arrival to take part in the meeting held there.
An estimated 6000 employees taking part in the rally congregated at THAU Ground after the silent rally.
They resolved to intensify the agitation by totally shutting down of all government offices across the state from tomorrow onwards among other resolutions drafted in the meeting.
To block staffs of the state secretariat, who extended support to the cease work strike but is not yet involved in the stir, from attending offices at the secretariat gate from tomorrow, to urge police personnel to join the agitation, to ask employees in the essential service group to join the cease work strike etc.

Speaking at the congregation, Ch Chandramani, general secretary reaffirmed the stand of the employees to carry on their strike till government fulfilled their demands.
"It is the democratic rights of the employees to enjoy equal status with the Central government.
We are demanding our democratic rights," he said.
