The Golden Jubilee function to mark the 50th year of existence of Northern Raphei Students' Union which kicked off on January 28 last, concluded yesterday at Kharasom Christian Village in Ukhrul district.
Speaking as Guest of Honour in the concluding function of the celebration, President of Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM), N Rajen said, villagers of remote areas seem to forget that they have their elected representatives in the State Assembly who are there to address problems their probelms.
He said that none of the villages in the remote hill areas which were visited by volunteers of ICHAM were found in good condition.
There found shortages in very fields.
None of the MLAs from these areas tabled the woe of the villagers in the Assembly.
At the time of election, they promised the voters that they will address their grievances and problems in the floor of the House of Assembly.
Villagers should also put up their problems to their representatives.
In the past, when people of the state followed their own indigenous religions, they lived in harmony and were close to each other, Rajen said, observing that with the advent of Hindu and Christian religions hatred among the people started.
If the trend of hatred of each other continues, more problems will be created in the state, he warned the people of the hidden agendas behind the religious activists.
Further, Rajendro said there was no shadow of untouchablility during the 21 years rule of Yangmaso Sheiza and Rishang Keishing as chief ministers of state at different period.
He also stressed the need of sincere services from village chiefs and political leaders in improving the living condition as well improving the education of the villagers.
Teachers posted in the hill areas are not stationed in their place of posting because of existing trend of sending other persons as replacement.
Villagers should not allow such kinds of practice.
In this regard, sincere efforts of the village authority is required, he added.
Senior officer of the state environment and ecology wing, MK Preshow graced the concluding function of the celebration ceremony.
He recalled the bravery and spirit of oneness of the forefathers of the land.
The concluding function of the Golden Jubilee function was participated by representatives of 17 different schools was marked by distribution of prizes of the sports competitions.
