Imphal, May 18 2009:
Close on the heels of Kh Megha who remained missing for three days after being picked up by police commandos until he was handed over to police by Assam Rifles, two individuals who have been pulled up by suspected commando personnel in uniform who came in a white Gypsy from near the entrance of Sajiwa Jail on May 16 have not been traced till date.
Loitongbam Tomba alias Satish (34) s/o L Sarat of Singjamei Oinam Thingel and Pebam Gunindro (45) s/o late P Ibomcha of Haobam Marak were coming back from Sajiwa Jail after visiting Tomba's elder brother, Karunkanta alias Petu (42), currently lodged there when they were pulled up by five unidentified men in uniform together with the Honda Activa (MN-1Q-3456) driven by Tomba and Gunindro.
Of the five unidentified persons, three were armed with small guns.
While Tomba and Gunindro were forced to board the Gypsy, one of them (abductors) wearing blue track suit rode the Honda Activa.
Then all of them headed in the direction of Lamlai.
Clues to the abduction came to light as the shopkeepers doing business in front of Sajiwa Jail noted the number of the Honda Activa.
It has been only 3/4 years since Tomba came back to Imphal after finishing Masters Degree at Kumaon University.
On the other hand, Gunindro is secretary of BJP Youth Wing.
Family members said that both Tomba and Gunindro were involved in electioneering activities in the Lok Sabha elections.
"But we are unaware of any other activity they did", they said.
In connection with the abduction, a written complaint has been filed at Heingang police.
The matter has also been to both Imphal East ad Imphal West District Police.
However, their whereabouts could not be traced till date.
The visibly worried family members appealed for safe release of the two on humanitarian ground even if they were abducted by police commandos, Assam Rifles or insurgents.
Meanwhile, saying that Tomba is a married man having children, the Eikhoigee Club, Singjamei Oinam Thingel has appealed to all concerned to release Tomba and Gundindro on humanitarian ground at the earliest.
