Imphal, May 18 2009:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) appealed the KCP (MC) to withdraw its decision and lift the ban it imposed on the students' body which appeared in local dailies today.
A statement issued by the publicity and propaganda secretary of DESAM, KC Ibomcha elucidates that DESAM didn't speak anything against any party/group in the matter of the closure of drug stores by pharmacists in protest against the unbearable monetary demand served to them recently.
DESAM appealed both the parties involved in the matter to reach for an amicable solution in the interest of the public and the patients, KC Ibomcha clarifies adding that the closure of the drug stores has caused more troubles to the people.
The statement also clarifies that DESAM had neither voiced against the KCP (MC) nor launched a slander that can tarnish the reputation of the KCP (MC).
It added that anything that seems a slanderous campaign against the KCP (MC), if any, is very unfortunate.
Ibomcha reasons that the KCP (MC) should have given the students' body a chance if any wrong has been committed by the body in the past while urging the KCP (MC) to lift the ban on the students' body, which has been imposed instantly.
DESAM doesn't have the might and potency to wrestle with armed groups, but it cannot stand as a silent spectator to the deeds that added the burden and woes of the people, the statement asserts while categorically stating that DESAM is voicing to make 'medical' a free zone like its movement to make education a free zone.
