Kidnapped Up-Pradhan rescued by police

An Up-Pradhan, kidnapped by suspected KCP(MC) cadres on a ' 6 lakh demand, was rescued by Thoubal police commandos today from Ukhongsang area.
A man allegedly involved in the kidnapping has been arrested by the police, in a follow up action.
The Up-Pradhan of Lourembam Gram Panchayat, Thokchom Naobi (31) of Ingourok Awang Leikai, was kept confined by the cadres of KCP(MC) at a place in Ukhongsang area, where he had gone to deliver the money demanded by them.
The UG cadres detained him as the money he brought was much less than what the group had demanded.
The Up-Pradhan disclosed to the police that the ' 6 lakh demand was served to Pradhan of Lourembam GP, Maibam Sunita of Icham Khunou.
Sunita had sent the Up-Pradhan in her place to deliver ' 6,000 saying that the amount had been negotiated at.
The indignant KCP (MC) cadres kept Naobi confined at the top of a hill at Hicham village the whole day yesterday.
When Naobi fainted in capativity he was shifted to a house at Ukhongsang belonging to a relative of Naobi.
The UGs left him behind at the house warning him not to leave the house and that they would come back in the morning to take him back.
Thoubal district police commandos rushed to the spot after receiving a specific information of his whereabouts.
In the follow up action, police commandos arrested Thangjam Bobo (26) son of Th Raghu of Ukhongsang Maning Leikai.
Another man, Maibam Chaoba (27) son of Komol, is still at large, police said, adding that Chaoba is a former PLA activist, bailed out after security forces arrested him, and is currently working for the KCP(MC).
