Imphal, April 01 2011:
A grocer who had been missing for the last few days was found dead at Yaralpat under Porompat police station in Imphal East district this morning.
A police source informed that Sorokhaibam Kenedy (35) of Kongpal Naoroibam Leikai was found dead at Yaralkhong channel inside Yaralpat near Nongmaiching foothill at about 8 am today.
Kenedy reportedly left home at about 5 pm of April 5 riding a Kinetic Honda (MN-IJ/9041) .
As truckers who were engaged in transportation of earth from the area informed that the Kinetic Honda was seen parked there for the last two days, police searched the area and found Kenedy lying dead about 200 metres away.
Three SP capsules, a polythene bag containing country made liquor, two disposable glasses, one packet of cigarette and some eatables were also found beside the corpse.
Kenedy's wife Prema received an SMS from her husband in the night of April 5 .
As Prema rang up, Kenedy reportedly informed that he was in the company of some of his friends.
But later when Prema rang up her husband repeatedly, there was no response.
Signs of bleeding were observed on Kenedy's nose.
Maintaining that Kenedy never abused or consumed SP capsules, family members asserted that the death of Kenedy looked suspicious.
Prema is currently two months pregnant.
The corpse of Kenedy has been deposited at JNIMS mortuary.
