Excess slur on UKLF

Villagers of Sugnu-Thingkangphai area have accused the UKLF of letting loose a 'reign of terror' in the intervening night of April 1 and 2 .
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister O Ibobi, the villagers alleged that five well-armed UKLF cadres in full uniform led by its Sugnu town area commander Mangkhopao Haokip alias Samuel Haokip entered Y Thingkangphai area at around 10 pm of April 1 and broke the doors of four houses belonging to Tongmang, Ngamkhojan, Jamkhoson and Thangthong.
The UKLF cadres also forcibly took away three mobile phones from Lhunminlal Touthang, Chungkhopao Haokip and Seikholun Haokip.
Later, the civilian victims, Sonkhomang, Jamson, Tongmang, Thangthong and Ngamkhojam were summoned to M Munpi village chief's house on April 2 where they were forced to give their signatures on imposed points of agreement without their consent.
Again, at around 10 pm of April 2, the UKLF cadres came to K Sabi village of Sugnu area and banged doors of village chief Jilngam Baite and searched a religious leader namely Rev Holkholet Baite.
As Holkholet Baite was not at home at the moment, the UKLF cadres pointed their guns to his wife.
Even as a group of furious women went to the house of Khupmang Haokip alias H Mangboi Thadou, self styled public relation superintendent UKLF as well as the chief of Lonpi Khunou in the morning of April 3 to complain about the incident, the womenfolk were not allowed to him.
Rather, the said town commander snatched a mobile phone and Rs 500 in cash from some women in addition to abusing the womenfolk with indecent words.
Highlighting all these atrocities allegedly committed by the UKLF cadres, the memorandum sought immediate intervention of the Government and also to booked the accused cadres.
The villagers further asked for setting up a police station at Y Thingkangphai village at the earliest.
