With the exception of black-topping, the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) has completed all other works concerning the 40 kilometre long north Eastern Council (NEC)-funded Khongsang-Tamenglong route, said Commander of BRTF's 25 Bn MA Raja.
In an exclusive chat with this reporter, Raja said "By the next fiscal (March 31, 2007) our target is to complete black topping of the entire stretch which was previously maintained by the State PWD".
Informing that nearly half of the assigned task along the 75 km Mahadev-Tolloi road in Ukhrul district have been completed, Raja conveyed that the programme is being undertaken with NEC funding as well.
The BRTF officer also stated that there is a proposal for the Task Force to undertake the work of re-constructing the 195 km long Tolloi-Pfutsero (in Nagaland) road.
Halfway stage has also been achieved in the construction work of the Senapati to Phaibung road (90 kms) which is being undertaken with funding from DONER, the BRTF official said and added that the tentative year for completing the work is 2009, including black topping.
further confiding that maintenance of the 60 km long Finch Corner to Kamjong (Ukhrul) road constructed by the BRTF with funding from the Ministry of Defence, is being looked after by the Task Force, Raja stated that necessary processes are on regarding double-laning of the 60 km stretch with Yaingangpokpi along the NH-150 as the starting point.
The road stretch from Yaingangpokpi upto Jessami in Ukhrul district on the same Highway (150) having a length of 170 kms is being initiated under the funding of Ministry of Surface and Road Transport, added the Commander.
