A three and half year old girl child has become the latest victim of the continuing cases of snatching ear-rings.
According to the father Phanjoubam Sanjit of Bishnupur Ward No 6 who brought her child (Ph Ichan) to the office of The Sangai Express today, the incident might have taken place when Ichan went out of home to play in the locality shortly after returning from a nearby Anganwadi centre at around 11.30 am today.
The missing ear-ring on her left ear reportedly came to the notice of family members when Ichan returned home at around 1 pm.
Stating that recent incidents of snatching ear-rings from children in the State had prompted the family elders to remove Ichan's ear-rings for over two months, the father said the detachable ear-ring was put on to the child only today.
Even though identity of the snatcher is not known immediately, Sanjit said according to Ichan's narration the crime was obviously committed by a male.
He appealed to all concerned to extend all possible cooperation in tracing the culprit.

The vehicle is informed to be returning to Imphal from Dimapur when the mishap occurred.
identity of the deceased has been established as Chinglen of Koirengei while the driver is said to be one Tongbram Mangijao of Potshangbam.
