Imphal, April 05:
A 48 year old woman was injured when an Assam Rifles personnel on patrol duty accidentally opened fire on April 3 at Thinghat in Churachandpur.
PIB (Defence Wing) in a statement said that the patrol party immediately provided first aid to the woman and arranged for her evacuation to Civil Hospital, Churachandpur.
AR troops donated blood for the injured woman said PIB and added that an inquiry has been instituted to probe the incident.
The injured woman is identified as Mrs Langhaizen (48) of Hangtam village.
All possible assistance have been forwarded to the injured woman, added the statement.
The villagers have expressed their gratitude to the AR authority.
