The State Cabinet which met today at the Chief Minister's Cabinet hall has decided to convene the winter session of the Assembly from February 6.Speaking to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that the meeting which started from 2 pm concentrated on when to convene the winter session of the House.
The meeting also deliberated on whether the Governor's address should be read out before the commencement of the session.
The source further informed that the Cabinet also agreed to the proposal to bring together six Government schools located at different places of Imphal area.
As per the new agreement it was agreed that Tombisana High School would merge with the Khoyathong High School, Adimjati with Lilashing Khongnangkhong Ashram and Old Lambulane Junior High School with Raja Dumbra High School.
The source said that the primary reason for deciding to club these schools with one another is the depleting number of students at these schools.
The Cabinet also agreed that the State Education Department (S) should conduct surveys in other parts of the State and see if such merger of schools can be effected, informed the source.
On the ongoing implementation of programmes under the Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana, the Cabinet discussed at length on the possibility of appointing a full time engineer for its implementation considering the increasing work load.
